Year of Providence 2: Bike Ride to the Farmeque
About 30 or so intrepid RISD bike riders joined the Office of Public Engagement staff, Associate Provost David Bogen, and Graduate School Dean Patti Phillips for an 8-mile bike ride to Sunday’s Farmecue at Tillinghast Estates in Barrington. Along the way, we shared information about the history of Narragansett Bay and the communities through which we rode.
Year of Providence 1: Conversaciones
On Friday night, 18 September, The Year of Providence kicked off with the opening of Conversaciones (Conversations) — an invitational art exhibition produced in response to The City of Providence’s declaration of September as Hispanic Heritage Month. The event was curated by Elena Calderon Pitino of the RISD Museum. It was amazing to see the work, but perhaps even more to see the interaction of campus and community!
